HACK’S POINT COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION

September 21st, 2024, MEETING MINUTES

Number of Residents in attendance: Thirty-Eight (38) were in attendance.

Officers in attendance: Tim Ziethen, President; Ann Carlton, Vice President; Kathy Hopkins, Secretary. Pam Woods, Treasurer

Directors in attendance: Bradley Mozeik Hugh McGettigan, Jan Heald, Les Carlton

Approval of the August 17th, 2024, HPCA Meeting Minutes: Jim Robey made a motion to approve the minutes, Mark Hopkins seconded. Motion carried.

Treasurer’s Report: We have 114 members. Les Carlton made a motion to approve, and Jim Robey seconded, All in favor.

Website Update: Web site is live…. www.hackspoint.org .......Pulley Club has agreed to being on the site. Waiting for information and pictures. We have the ability to add an online store which would allow us to collect dues and also donations through Strip and PayPal. The cost as of 9/21/2024, is 2.9 Percent plus .30 cents per charge.

Community Parkland Maintenance

Maintenance to do list today discussed:

  • o Parkland benches new gravel, geo fabric and border landscaping (six benches)

  • o Steps to Beach – West Side- Brush clean up and steps clean

  • o Barrier post-install in road down to Beach

  • o Bench along beach, scrap and paint

  • o Seating area in beach – fix cracked concrete bench

  • o Beach parking area signs need to be installed

  • o Clean behind the shed

  • o Rope line at top of bank needs vegetation and vines removed in two additional areas: by pier steps and by the end of Farmdale

  • o Right rear gutter on Community Center new clips need to be installed

  • o Remove screws sticking out by the beach steps (east Side)

  • o Pull in and clean swim lines

  • o Move swim platform to pier

  • .

Membership thanked Les Carlton for the total redo of the east side steps to the beach, beautiful Job, well done! Also, the beach was raked and the tall grasses around the clock were cut down.

Sub Committee reports.

· No reports from the Garden Club,

· No reports from the Community Hall.

· Social Committee

o Presented Proposed dates/Events for the 2024/2025 season

o Asked to retain petty cash for next event (Trunk or Treat Family Fun Day). Membership approved.

New Business

· Discussion ensued about replacing 436 old boards on the boardwalk over time during the Fall/Spring and Summer. Starting in the Spring with the purchase of 100 boards, that are UC4B grade of lumber that is treated. This type of lumber will last longer, possibly 15/20 years compared to 1 to 2 years with regular lumber.

· The vote to authorize spending the money to replace the boards and purchase 100 Boards that are UC4B was put to the membership by Jim Robey, Seconded by Suzanne Cordus. Motion Carried.

· Pier club asked that all boats be pulled out by 10/25

· Ice eaters will be installed 10/26

· Connie Nadeau finished the new Hacks Point directory. Jim Robey offered to get it to the printer. All Members will receive a free copy, and non-members will be charged a nominal fee.

· Welcome our newest residents Vickie and Don Galbraith.

No further business to discuss. Mark Hopkins made a motion to adjourn. Seconded by Les Carlton. Motion Carried.
