HACK’S POINT COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION

MEETING MINUTES SEPTEMBER 20TH, 2025

MEETING CALLED TO ORDER 0900 HOURS

Number of Residents in attendance: Nineteen (19) were in attendance.

Officers in attendance: Tim Ziethen, President; Ann Carlton, Vice President; Kathy Hopkins, Secretary. Suzanne Cordus; interim bookkeeper

Directors in attendance: Hugh McGettigan, Jan Heald, Les Carlton, Bradley Mozeik

Approval of August 16th, 2025, HPCA Meeting Minutes: Jim Robey made a motion to approve August 16th, 2025, minutes, Les Carlton seconded. Motion carried.

Treasurer’s Report: Suzanne reviewed expenditures and payments for the month. Motion as made to approve and accept treasurer's report by Jim Robey, Seconded by Laura Heald. Motion carried.

Website Update: www.hackspoint.org ....... voted and approved Minutes are be posted on the website. Posted water tested are completed for the season.

Sub Committee reports:

Social Committee Update:

Discussed Summer and Fall activities: Halloween Event which will take place on the green on October 19th from 3pm to 5 pm. There will be golf cart decorations, Pumpkin Painting, Smores and more, Left over Craft Night, Book Club, Holiday event. Most recent event, Resin Craft Night, cleared $200 (two hundred) Dollars.

Pier Club

Workday is Saturday October 25th. Please have all boats out by the 24th. Ice Eaters will be in October 25th.

Board Walk Committee Update: 50% of board walk replacement is finished. Project is on going for the next 2/3 years.

Current Ongoing Business:

Shoreline Stabilization

Gabion boxes are available from a current resident. Tim will look in to permits needed and evaluate their effectiveness and efficiency in the spring.

Community Parkland Maintenance

We had received approval to remove 4 trees at a cost of $2800 dollars. We will investigate late fall and early winter for removal and hope for a better price.

Signage for Park land is needed. We are looking in at least 6 to 8 at the cost of approximately $65 Dollars per sign.

Tim suggested a line stringing party this winter to save on the cost of new lines.

Fill in small sink Hole, seed and straw.

Caps needed for pilings on the boardwalk, approx. $15 each, need to order.

Reattach gutter on the Community Hall

Weed stairs and put down red rock.

Little beach drainage improvements and new fence needed.

Meet at the Beach at 11am for today’s work list!

New Business

Frank Redford, Chief of the Hacks Point Fire Company, led a discussion on which emergency services and their prompt manner could be available to the Hacks Point Community during the Scotchman’s Creek Bridge Repair. As of now it will be an 11.2-mile detour requiring about 15 minutes. This will be an ongoing discussion. Check Hacks Point Fire Department’s website for updates on the plan.

Discussion ensued about pruning the bushes in front of the community center.

Discussion took place about the overhang on the front of the community hall.

No further business to discuss. Jim Gipe made a motion to adjourn. Seconded by Dawn Bielbert, Motion Carried. Meeting adjourned at 10:15 hours.
